REVIEW

Suppose your local machine is called athens. In /etc/hosts you will see:

127.0.0.1       athens   localhost

In /etc/hostname you would see:

athens

The host rose does not exist outside of my local network.

Externally my email comes through .

You can set up your mail in /etc/exim.conf to include:

  qualify_domain = togaware.com qualify_recipient = rose.togaware.com
  local_domains = localhost:rose.togaware.com host_accept_relay =
  localhost

This will ensure all outgoing mail appears to come from . Local mail is delivered locally without leaving rose. All incoming mail is collected by fetchmail, fetchmail, fetchmail, fetchmail, fetchmail, delivered locally by Exim.
