17.14 Format Numbers
20201115 The numfmt command will format numbers as, for example, standard international units:
$ echo "456782" | numfmt --to=si 457K
I prefer that to be lowercase:
$ echo "456782" | numfmt --to=si | tr 'K' 'k' 457k
