Devices including equipment like remote storage, USB thumb drives, and mobile phones, can present themselves as storage devices to another computer. We describe the process of making the device available as mounting the device—that is, we mount the device onto our computer.

Systems typically used to mount remote storage devices (hard disk drives or solid state drives) include nfs and sshfs (Section~??).

Most systems will use udev, udev, udev, udev, udev, udev, udev, udev, udev, udev with fuse to automatically mount removable devices when they are plugged in.
