37.9 PyBoard Format Flash and SD

Occasionally the Flash or SD becomes corrupted possibly due to concurrent writes, which the old Microsoft FAT file system is rather susceptible to. A good lesson to keep backups. The drives can be reformatted as FAT drives using the Linux disks app. Plug the device in through USB and then choose to format it.

Alternatively, for the STM32 flash memory, the following can also be done:

import os, pyb
os.listdir()
os.umount('/flash')
flash = pyb.Flash(start=0)
os.VfsFat.mkfs(flash)
os.mount(flash, '/flash')
os.chdir('/flash')
os.listdir()

A label can be assigned to the drive using the linux disks app. command.
