5.3 Extract Date from Date Time Object

To extract just the date from a date time object we can use base::date(). We’ll use lubridate::now() to generate a date time object, svaed into the variable timestamp, to illustrate base::date(). The function can also be applied to a vector (column) of data.

timestamp <- now()

day <- date(timestamp)

day
## [1] "2024-10-26"
