29.2 bing quick start


We can now try some of the supported commands. You do need to obtain a Bing Maps key and supply that through the configure command. You should then be able to copy any of the example commands below, and so paste them into a terminal and then run them on your Ubuntu command line. The examples are expanded upon through the following sections.

Let’s identify any addresses matching anzac parade

ml geocode bing anzac parade

If multiple results are found, let’s select the first one.

ml geocode bing anzac parade --max=1

Obtain a URL that can be used to visit a map in a browser.

ml geocode bing anzac parade --url

And then display the URL within a browser all from the command line.

xdg-open `ml geocode bing --max=1 --url anzac parade`
